Technical Field Services

One of the most popular services sponsored by the District is the Technical Field Services program.  At no direct cost to landowners and/or tenant ag producers, the District provides the following technical services:

bullet

electronic flow metering of wells and irrigation systems

bullet

draw-down testing of wells

bullet

calculation of water well pump efficiency

bullet

sprinkler pattern efficiency

bullet

irrigation water application efficiency

well head protection

irrigation scheduling consultation

The extended drought of the 1990s has provided the impetus for many landowners to drill additional irrigation wells.  Much of the field work accomplished during the late fall and early spring each year usually centers around flow testing new wells to help producers determine permanent pump size.

Technical field service activities during the growing season (May - Sept.) usually center on producers' inabilities to maintain flow and/or pressure in their irrigation systems.  Services rendered in these cases include determination of present flow rate and consultation concerning reduction of sprinkler package (gpm).
